Edward Hopper
Even though I am no longer in grade school, I still believe strongly in the idea of the field trip. The other day I embarked on one of my adult field trips, to the Whitney Museum of American Art, to see the current exhibition celebrating the Museum’s 75 anniversary. The Museum has a large collection of paintings by Edward Hopper and dedicated an entire floor of the show to his work. Edward Hopper was one of the first artists that I remember being influenced by. For many photographers Hopper’s treatment of the subject was the influence, but for me the vibrant color pallet is what has always fascinated me. Seeing some of these paintings sometimes feels like seeing an old friend.

Hi Joshua! I came upon your Edward Hopper entry-I'm a big fan of his too-did you know that he lived in Nyack (Rockland County). You can visit his house there and see more of his work there-it's worth the trip! Maryc. P.S. You do great photography!
